Trustee Roles and Responsibilities

Adopted February 16, 2012

  1. A Trustee has an interest in music, and is a subscriber to and attendee of Portland Symphony Orchestra concerts.
  2. A Trustee is a community ambassador. A Trustee is an active participant in raising funds and/or building connections for the Portland Symphony Orchestra, and attends PSO events.
  3. A Trustee gives advice and counsel to help the Portland Symphony Orchestra achieve its objectives.
  4. The PSO will be one of the Trustee’s top philanthropic priorities during the Trustee’s service, and he or she will make a commitment to the Annual Fund that is personally significant. 
  5. A Trustee serves actively on at least one committee/task force, and regularly attends Board meetings and committee/task force meetings. 

The Trustee & Governance Committee can recommend re-nomination of a Trustee based on discussion with the Trustee and an evaluation of the performance of these Roles and Responsibilities.

A Trustee is elected for a 3-year term at the PSO Board of Trustees’ Annual Meeting, and may serve a maximum of three 3-year terms.
